Welcome to my blog! This is my first post on my ~new~ website. My name is Brianna Stone, I am a curly-headed, biracial journalism student at the University of Texas at Austin and a Texas native.
This website was formerly my journalism portfolio with all of my articles, videos, etc. on it and I have decided to convert it to a blog.
Since I was four years old and first learned how to put a pencil to paper, I have LOVED to write and I grew up writing stories and dreaming of becoming a best-selling author. As I got older, I found myself writing less for fun and only for school and work. While I love being a journalist and love reporting the news and current events, I have missed writing for fun and being my own writer, editor and publisher to my work. This blog is a way for me to bring back my love for writing and storytelling in a fun way.
The inspiration for this blog and the content that I will post simply came from growing up and learning more about myself and about the world around me.
Growing up, I didn’t really know much about my heritage and what it meant to biracial, or to be black or a Latina. I also grew up HATING my hair and wishing I had straight hair. I spent several years of my life straightening, relaxing and damaging my hair because I hated the hair I had and wanted it to be straight and “normal like everyone else”. Throughout the last couple of years of my life I have learned so much about myself and learned to embrace my naturally curly hair and my heritage as an African-American and Mexican-American woman.
This blog is all about embracing who you are and enjoying life. You can expect to see a LOT of posts about curly/ natural hair, as well as posts about beauty, travel and just life in general.
Follow me on social media and stay tuned for more content coming soon. (:
