About Me

–When I was four-years-old I learned how to write and I haven’t stopped since.

Brianna is a senior journalism major at the University of Texas at Austin. She grew up in the DFW area then moved to San Marcos for her freshman year of college at Texas State University, where she ran NCAA Division 1 track and field. After deciding to quit running, Brianna transferred to UT-Austin and began to pursue an education/ career in journalism.

Since attending UT, Brianna has been involved in a number of on-campus student media organizations– Good Morning Texas and KVR News with Texas Student Television, the only student-run, FCC-licensed, digitally broadcasted college TV station in the nation; The Daily Texan, UT’s award-winning daily college newspaperand Burnt X, a digital news site.

Brianna has also been heavily involved with UT’s chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) as a 2015-2016 member, 2016-2017 Secretary and the current 2017-2018 President. NABJ works to promote diversity in the media and increase the diversity of news coverage.

During the Spring 2017 semester Brianna interned for the Austin American-Statesman, one of the largest newspapers in Texas, and for USA TODAY College as a digital producer.

This fall, Brianna will be working as an editorial news intern at The Daily Dot in Austin.

After graduation, Brianna hopes to work as a print/digital reporter, focusing on social issues, race-relations and immigration.

When she’s not interviewing people or writing articles on deadline, Brianna enjoys to workout and go on runs, eat queso, binge-watch Netflix and read books. She aspires to learn Spanish one day and to travel the world.
