Austin police have arrested two men after finding out one of them was carrying two kilograms of crystal meth, according to an arrest affidavit.
According to an arrest affidavit, police received a tip that Kentucky resident, Kerry Franklin, 32, would be coming to Austin to pick up a large amount of meth. Police say Franklin made a similar trip to Austin earlier this year with his wife, who purchased a large amount of meth to bring back to Kentucky.
On Friday, Franklin drove another man, who police have identified as 30-year-old Anthony Allen, to a Greyhound bus station, authorities say. Police say Franklin stayed in the car while Allen went inside the bus station.
A police officer went inside the bus station to question Allen and found a cooler inside a backpack that was in his possession, which contained 2,000 grams of meth, the document says.
Allen was arrested Friday and is currently being held at the Travis County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
Police say a few minutes after Allen was arrested at the bus station, Franklin quickly drove out of the bus station, but was soon caught and detained by police.
Franklin is being held at Travis County Jail with a bail set at $300,000. Police say this is not his first drug conviction.
